ring, ring. hello? ring, ring. hello?

my next art adventure involves painting a life sized fibre glass replica of a british icon the K6 kiosk telephone box. to raise vital funds for a fantastic charity Childline.

the summer of 2012 promises to be one not to forget and in the year of the Diamond Jubilee, we want to connect people with this familiar icon. BT ArtBox is about joining in with the nation’s celebrations and showcasing the nation’s diverse talent. across London’s iconic streetscapes you’ll find replicas of the Gilbert Scott telephone box, transformed by the very best British creativity. And after the public display, we’ll auction the boxes to raise money for ChildLine to celebrate their 25th Anniversary.

my phone box "the thing with feathers (that perches in the soul)" along with the other 99 boxes will go out on the streets of london from 18th june - 16th july 2012 after which, they will all be auctioned off in the hope of raising £1 million for Childline.

i will soon be on my travels down to london to bring my design to life. follow painting in progress tweets @lozatkinson_art

good egg...

so the end has come to 'the big egg hunt' with all eggs now being shipped off to their new homes and their very generous owners.

'from little acorns, mighty oaks do grow' auction ended after being extended a few times with a most glorious bid of £1,400. this has helped towards funds for two amazing charities Elephant Family and Action for Children. with the final total still being counted!!

as well as raising what im sure will be a huge total for the two charities 'the big egg hunt' also smashed two world records! the first being 'the most expensive chocolate egg' at £7,000!!

then with an amazing 12,773 egg hunters!!! the world record for 'the most entrants in an egg hunt' was also broken!

and then what pops up on the BBC's bang goes the theory? only a familiar egg....

it has been an absolute honour to work on this project. not only helping kids here in the UK get a better start in life but also helping keep some of the worlds most endangered species safe from harm. i've loved every second! meeting other artists, getting to chat with the public and working with an amazing team behind the scenes that dont get enough praise for what they do! they're a small team but their ambition and heart are so huge they can and do achieve amazing things!!

I say me, knowing all the while it's not me...

the hair on this piece has been doing my head in! its not 100% yet but i haven't done a "me. me, me" post for ages so...

If you were a tree/animal what kind would you be?

Tree = laurel

Animal = bird

What is your favourite colour?

Black

Why are manhole covers round?

holes in men usually are

What is your favourite drink?

Manhattan/Red Wine

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Cheese, butter, milk, beer, jam, meat, salad

What is the last book you read?

But Is It Art? And How to overcome depression. Both causing there own yet similar moments of despair! Currently reading

· The bell jar

· The bible; a history

· Haunted Shropshire

Some light reading you will agree

What is your favourite movie?

This is a tough one, as it seems to change with time!

· 300 will always be up there, it is beautiful.

· Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is another favourite; it’s so unreal in its concepts but captures a truth that everyone can relate to.

· Zeitgeist.

· The corporation.

How would you explain a database in three sentences to your eight-year-old nephew/niece?

A place where lots of information is kept and then usually lost

If aliens landed in front of you and, in exchange for anything you desire, offered you any position on their planet, what would you want?

The secret to abundance and peace.

If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be?

I wouldn’t want to be any. What little you see of the character within a certain work of fiction isn’t a full enough representation! You know they still have to go food shopping, pay bills go thought the day-to-day monotony of life.

Although I wouldn’t mind being Raoul Duke. I used to have a similar fuck it attitude towards everything once upon a time and then reality hit and boy does that suck. Now I’m a nervous quivering wreck of a woman slowly building whatever it was that was myself back up to get things done and do what the heart says as that part of me has never let me down.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?

To know what to do and then have the automatic ability to do it

If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?

How do we know I or anyone has that long left?

If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?

Make sure my nearest and dearest were “ok” then just disappear

If you were a car, what kind would you be?

Bubble car

Who do you like best, you mom or dad?

What sort of fucking question is that!

What kind of people do you dislike?

Idiots

What makes you angry?

Idiocy

Tell me about the worst boss you ever had.

A mini Hitler at a well known, but now failing purveyor of consoles and computer games. And when I say mini he was definitely compensating for a deficiency in the height department and wore a fucking gold “nike tick” earring. I don’t think he could contemplate that working there wasn’t the most important thing in my life?!

How many close friends do you have?

Many close in integrity not so many in proximity

In a small room you have a refrigerator, if you left the door of the 'fridge open would the temp in the room fall or would the temp in the 'fridge rise? Why?

The temp in the room would rise as the fridge uses up more energy in trying to keep the fridge at a constant cold temperature therefore kicking out more heat from the back. Causing a vicious circle!

Can you describe an atom?'

Atom is a four-letter word

How would you describe yourself in a sentence?

Benevolent, funny, caring and trying to choose love.

out of bounds
